I purchased 2 strings of the multi-color lights. They work just fine. I did a minimum 6 hr initial charge, took them camping, it rained and they worked perfectly still. They are very sensitive to light and would flicker because of the light of a tiki torch. I simply turned the solar panel away from the direction of the torch; no more flickering.I am, however, really disappointed in the multi-color and with the customer service. The pictures of the multi-color would suggest the strings would have several different shades, in almost random order -- no two strings alike. The colors depicted show secondary, tertiary, and different values represented on each string. All of the pictures were beautiful. I ordered 2 expecting not only for the strings to not have a specific pattern but the two strings to be unique. They look nothing like the picture; what I got was bold shades of primary colors (red, yellow, blue) plus green, in a specific, repetitive pattern and both strings exactly the same. Think classic multi-color Christmas lights. Had that been the picture, not all of the different shades and values of color, I would have ordered the white or the warm white instead. The product itself works just fine. I'm just upset because I didn't get what was pictured -- again, I didn't expect exact, just similar. The multi-color are misrepresented. The seller sent me an email following-up on the product, asking me how they work. I responded with much of what I wrote above. I got a response within 12 hrs, however, it is unfortunately just the exact same email sent to me again asking if they work and if I'd write a good review. That makes me feel their interest is in good reviews rather than good interaction.I had a little hitch with the "on" control; it took a couple of nights to get these to turn on correctly (hence a missing star). I've left these on since then, and I must say they're absolutely gorgeous and unique! The battery works exceptionally well even on overcast days, and the jewel-tones blaze long into the night. I was going to use the string as a novel decoration for my sunny mailbox area since I thought the battery would require more light, but now I'm keeping them in my outdoor entertaining area near the house. I've draped mine over a few branches where they peer out from among the leaves. Most of the unusual, bright-colored nighttime decorations I've seen look a little weird, tacky, or out-of place to me, but these are lovely enough to be perfectly magical. Visitors invariably comment on their beauty and then want to know exactly what they are (and where to get them). So far everyone's amazed that they're LED lights AND powered by a solar battery. I can't wait to try more colors, and more unusual settings (like along the edge of my woods in the back yard). You could put them just about anywhere and they'd be enormous fun.I am absolutely IN LOVE with these lights. I ordered four strands at a discounted price (one day special?) and strung them on top of the black, chain-link fence surrounding my 20' X 40' in-ground pool. I thought I would need wire ties to secure the lights to the fence, but the top of the fence worked perfectly as a "hook" to hold on to the wires. Unfortunately, I didn't buy enough to go all the way around the fence, so I immediately ordered eight more strands (for a dollar more than I had originally paid; no big deal! I would have paid double!). I can't wait to install the rest of these lights this weekend. It literally took me five minutes to install the original four strands, so installing eight more strands will be easy-peasy! Where one strand ends, I would simply stick the stake connected to the new strand into the ground below where the first light bulb would need to begin and continue that process until I get around the entire fence (if I had to guess, the fence is 40' x 60'). The lights cast a soft, colorful glow (I purchased the multi-colored lights). If you're looking for something a bit brighter, maybe the white ones would be better? Did I mention? I LOVE THESE LIGHTS!!!Very nice, attractive yard ornamental lights that cost nothing to run. The lights are quite small, and don't cast a lot of light, but they're beautiful to look at, and they do keep my back porch from being totally dark when the porch light is turned off. There's enough light to see out my back window if my neighbor's cat has taken up residence on the porch again. The most pleasant surprise, for me, has been how long they run. Given the small size of the solar collector, and what must be pretty small batteries inside the case, I figured I'd be lucky to get a few hours' runtime out of them after the sun went down. (I should perhaps say that I'm an Electronics Engineer and am pretty familiar with solar cells, batteries and LED lighting.) But the first day I installed them, they went on at 6:25 in the evening, and were still running when I left for work the next day at 6 AM! I've had them for a week now and they've run all night every single night, including once when the day was pretty overcast and didn't give a lot of opportunity for solar energy collection. I'm impressed!Absolutely beautiful!. Big size bulbs, quality glass look. You will not regret buying these. Brilliant bright red green gold and blue. For summer camping I attached these with 1 inch black binder clips along the edge of our 10 by 10 ft shade canopy just for a festive look. I could only cover three sides, not four, with two strings, so I will need to order a third string for full coverage. There will be extra bulbs, 3 or 4 on each end, that I will let fall or hang as second "drop loops" along the left and right "entrance". Did not get photos, will post after next camping trip. One caution: I left these sitting in the back shelf of my parked car all day in full sun, don't do that! Next time I will only place the charging plates, not the lights, because there was a tiny bit of melting of a couple of the plastic bulb tips onto the wire, but it was easily detached with no damage. I am sure it was much more than 100 degrees inside the car.I bought these to use on our camper trailer. They’re not overly bright but I like them. They cover from one end of the slide to the opposite end.
